Most of my practice is helping people who are in trouble with a government agency. Whether it is the police, the Department of Natural Resources or the Zoning Department, when the government is after you, you need a strong partner. I defend people accused of felonies, misdemeanors, traffic tickets, hunting violations and zoning violations. I have a good relationship with prosecutors and officers. Most of the time we can negotiate a satisfactory resolution, but if a trial is necessary, I enjoy the challenge. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison Law School in 1985 at the top of my class. I practiced for two years in Milwaukee at Wisconsin’s oldest and largest law firm, Foley & Lardner. I returned to my home town in 1987 and joined Johnson & Werner. I have been the managing partner of Werner, Johnson & Hendrickson since 1997. Prior to Law School I enjoyed teaching Eighth Grade Civics in Ashland, Wisconsin. I left teaching to manage Ding’s Dock in Waupaca where I had worked for twelve summers during high school in Waupaca, teaching in Ashland and studying at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. I graduated from UWSP with Highest Honors in 1976. I participate in the community through New London Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca and the Waupaca County Bar Association. I am also a member of the governing board of Riverside Medical Center, Waupaca. Susan and I married in Waupaca in 1989. She teaches handicapped preschoolers in the School District of Iola-Scandinavia. Our son Ted loves fishing on the Big Dog Bass Fishing Team at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where he is a freshman. Our daughter Hannah is the skip of the Waupaca High School Girls Varsity Curling team where she is a sophomore.
